I needed to meet a colleague in the International District the other day. They
source fabric and materials for the mask-making project I'm a part of, and I was out of elastic. We agreed to meet at a bubble tea shop in the ID, about halfway between our spots. It was a warm, sunny walk down Jackson. Last time I walked through (Mother's Day), it was just me and a few nefarious looking characters. This day, even though shop windows are still boarded up, there were people out and about, selling produce, sitting at the bus stops, delivery drivers dashing in and out of restaurants.
